# User Roles and Permissions

There are three user roles. The roles and their permissions are explained below.

| Role     | Purpose                                                                                   | Permissions                                                                                        |
| -------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Admin    | Admins exist to manage users and teams.                                                   | Entire application, including data upload, visualisation as well as all admin functions.           |
| User     | Users can use the application for uploading and visualising data in their assigned teams. | Data upload and visualisation. Users do not have access to any admin functions.                    |
| Inactive | These are users that are no longer active and are to be denied access to the application. | The user can log into the application but cannot access and data functionality or admin functions. |
